>>>>>>Are you thinking of buying one? Only thing that seems dumb so far is that they don't make any with GSM for CDMA stuff built into them - so you can use them as a cell phone or wireless modem too. I have a pocketpc/cellphone and as long as I have that seems like a Origami would kinda be a waste.
>>>>>>I wonder how many of these $1000 devices they'll sell - I wonder how many people will be willing to spend that much on a device that could so easily be dropped, lost, or stolen.

>>I stopped using it when I sold it to a friend because I needed the $ at the time. Overall I was pretty happy with it (very stable, lots of cool goodies) - but it was only a 1.0gz machine so it was kinda slow for what I wanted to use it for. The thing was super light-weight and with the pen, the handwriting recognition in it was increadable. (anything that can read MY handwriting is awsome...hahaha)
>>Since then I've read some comaprison reviews and I recall that there were better ones out there.....my only real complaint was the 1.0gz. Was able to run the thing for like 5 or 6 hours on the battery though.....

>My sister's boyfriend has that particular model. I tried it a while ago and it did work only with the pen. Nothing happened when I touched the screen with my finger.

>I just called him just to be sure and he told me that effectively it only worked with the pen. Perhaps there's a setting to make it really work like a touchscreen. Do you recall such a setting necessary to make it work that way?

>But like you say the speed could be a problem depending on what has to be done with it.
hmmmmm.... I don't recall having to change any settings. I've got a call into the guy I sold it too & maybe he can try it on that one.
As far as the speed is concerned - if you know someone with one, perhaps they'll let you play with it for an hour or two so you can see if its going to be fast enough....and like I said I read some reviews that compared this tablet with a couple of other ones and there was at least one of the other ones that rated better.
