Ahhhh...Microsoft does listen to it's customers...it's large corporate customers. This was the scenario a few years ago:

Tom is the CIO of BigCorp that uses VFP. He goes to a CIO conference. He hears Jan, CIO of LargeInc, Fred, CIO of HugeCo, and Gupta, CIO of InterCorp, all talking about how great VB is and how moving to VB, their development time was reduced. John, CIO of SoftCorp is the keynote speaker, and he too touts how great VB has been. Tom hears this and goes back to the office. What he hasn't heard is the the other companies dumped Oracle Forms, COBOL, PowerBuilder, etc. But Tom remembers hearing that the other companies were getting software out sooner and with fewer bugs than they did before. So, Tom mandates a switch from VFP.

Microsoft, meanwhile, hears that Jan, Fred, Gupta, and John are happy with VB and that Tom has switched. Because only one of these companies spends more money on Microsoft products than 1000 small businesses, they get a bigger say.

If you think this story is fiction, I've got news for you. The names were change to protect the guilty *G*.

>But you'd think that they might listen sometime - a big chunk of the experienced
>business app developers using MS products are still in VFP...
