But I never said we should impose democracy on everyone as John suggested. There are many ways to influence the spread of democracy without invasion. You're saying that invasion does not involve imposition because you can spread democracy without invasion?
That's like saying my car is not silver because there are other color options out there. It also smacks a big hole in the justification for invasion if we are now saying that the purpose of invasion was to free the oppressed.
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us."
-- Shakespeare: Coriolanus, Act 1, scene 1
