Yes, I was aware of that distinction. Once in Boston Aquarium I was surprised by the tour guide (or one of those info films) who said "Remember this next time youbut are your "chips" actually made from chips of solid potato (ike ours), or from a sort of potato mash formed into a strip (fries).

I'm getting a deja vu here. Next Jim will pop up talking about his favourite chippie, or how his mum did/does them.
