I'd always understood franglais to be the pathetic attempts of an Englishman to speak french, such as: "Avez-vous un cup of tea?" and the song (by Keith Richards? - or one of the Stones):

"Je suis un rock star/ je avez un residence/ je habitez la / a la south de france / voulez-vous partir with me / and come and rester la / with me in France"

That ordinateur, aeroglisseur (hovercraft) business is surely l'Academie Francaise just trying to preserve the sovereignty of their language and stop english words from creeping in?
