I was the parent representative on the committee selecting a new elementary school principal a few years back. There was one candidate who was pretty well qualified, but her speech was poor. In particular, she dropped the "g"s on "ing" words. As a parent, I had a real problem with it, since the principal and teachers are models for the students.
