Jill:

I currently use a server with Linux/Samba loaded on it, and it was fine as a PIII with I believe 64 mb of ram, although it might have had 128mb of ram. The computer was stolen from our office so I used the insurance money to get a better one, but that PIII computer only cost me about $150 Cdn used. We have had up to 5 people using it at once and I've never noticed any problems or bottlenecks. Now, I'm not a linux guru so it did take me a bit of time to get it up and running, but now the only time I have to do anything with that server is when the power goes out (ie i've never had to restart it on it's own and it's been about 2 years now). very stable and easy to use. If I had an UPS connected, it would run continuously 365 days per year (or is it 364?).

hope this helps.
