>I don't have a problem with fighting for oil, as long as it is available for the whole world. Who better equip to do that then the good o'USA and Britain? Those who keep criticizing that this is all about oil and for the big oil companies, let them give up their cars and anything that runs on man made energy... then they can criticize, until then, just say thank you.

Sam;

One of the major reasons for World War II in Asia was Japan’s need for oil. An embargo was established against Japan so Japan sought to rectify it my military action against other nations in the region. China was invaded for its natural resources and Indonesia was invaded as a source of oil. The United States and Britain were next on the list for Japan’s thirst for power.

Equate the actions of Japan with what is going on in the world today. It is highly possible that China and the United States will go to war over oil. Russia will sit back while supporting Iran and others and laugh at us. Without firing a shot Russia will once again be "a" if not "the" super power.

I would rather see the United States become the world leader in alternative energy sources and less or even not dependant upon oil. Let the rest of the world duke it out! Then we can sit back and laugh! A country that can spend over $500 Billion for a war in Iraq, should be able to invest in alternative energy sources and make it a top priority! We put men on the moon! Why not conquer the energy market?
