I tried using peBuilder to make the boot disk, and while that all worked and the system boots, I can't see my c: drive when I use this boot cd.

I've seen several cases of virus infection where the virus hooks any .EXE run on the system; if it happens to be REGEDIT, the virus writes the value back i.e.

- you remove a virus-related value or key, appears to delete w/o problem
- you exit REGEDIT
- you go back into REGEDIT, lo and behold the value is back there again (*extremely* frustrating)

In those cases I've had to use KILL.EXE on the viral processes before doing the REGEDIT mods and blowing away the viral executables.

Don't know if this is what you're seeing, just thought I'd mention it.
