Sure.

Using VS 2005 and SQLExpress (with which I have real issuses. In order to The claimed portablity of SQLExpress you have to jump through hoops, I would use Vista instead or go with the full version of SQL).

We started by building a command line Hello World solution. From there I worked through code examples. Branching out on my own, I build a simple form for receiving streaming financial data and displaying parsed data. After that I worked with MM .Net framework and built MM. Net's sample application from scratch. I then took a proof of concept approach, and roughed out new application, created model tables in SQL via scripts, and built a couple of forms. Finally, I paid a well regarded expert to build a form to demonstrate some basic functionality. I considered how many hours the expert took to build the form. I also worked with an existing application we have in house, and built some simple forms, connecting to the VFP backend. Every step along the way we made allowances for learning curves and improved developer efficiency over time. Instead of trying to compare abstract concepts, I took the approach I can do this in VFP, how do I do the samething if C#. If I couldn't I explored reasonable alternatives. In between I asked a lot of questions.
