File() searches along the PATH and finds sometimes the FILENAME.EXT in other places than the location you want to open in. Use adir() for checking a specific location. Use file() only (after you have reflected on the working mechanism a bit) if the file you search will be helped by the PATH - prg's for instance <g>.
