You can achieve almost everything you want with a little programming. First in your menu, pass each selection to a program control file, ie 'do sys_men with "thisselection"'. In sys_men capture the state of the menu selection. Any screens called from within sys_men have to be modal. When the screen closes have code at the bottom of sys_men restore the menu state.
A problem is a problem only as long as it has a possible solution. Lacking that, it becomes a FACT!
