My ex-husband went to Kabul for DynaCorp. He was in charge of the security team for the Ambassador until he suffered an aneurysm and had to return to the states for open heart surgery. It was all tax free but there was a LOT of political crap to deal with over there. We know quite a few over there working for them now and many in Iraq as well. Our area has a large number of police who have gone to Afghanistan and Iraq too. Do you know other officers who are there? If so, I would definitely contact them and find out the REAL deal. If not, let me know and I will put you in contact with some I know.

>>>>>>You're kidding. I don't go Afghanistan or Iraq even someone give me a million dollar. Afghanistan is a dangerious country even for a turk.

>>>I'm getting ready to retire and I've noticed they are paying pretty good (tax free) dollars to go over to Afghanistan and Iraq and do either Police work or nerd stuff. If the dollars are right, I may go over for a one year vacation. You have to remember I live in Memphis, TN - the third most dangerous metro area of the country. We've already had almost 90 murders this year, so it wouldn't be much different that being here. I'm told I might also carry a rifle and a .9mm instead of my usual two .40 caliber automatics!
>>>
>>>I'll know more by September.

>>You make it sound like some high-paying pageant. That doesn't sound like the Afghanistan I have read about in the news, and it doesn't sound close to what is going on anywhere around Baghdad. Not disputing Memphis crime statistics, I'm sure they're on the high side FOR AN AMERICAN CITY, but it isn't a war zone where every step you take might be your last. It's no place for cowboys.
>>
>>Who would you be working for? One of the private "security" companies that provide protection for visiting dignitaries, news reporters, etc.?
>>
>>I hope cooler heads prevail, either yours or your wife's.

>Haha, I'm looking into several options. Just think about it, if I do go, y'all can get a daily update on the happenings over there. I just can't decide if I want to go with Halliburton or Dyncorp?<g>
