Experience with wireless?

Windows 2003 Server
We have a site where there are over 30 workstations, 25 of them wired and 5 wireless.
The application frequently 'polls' a table for updates (timer based) as well as updating tables based on activity at the workstation.
The wireless connection was known to be flakey and the responsible party has said that is now rectified. We have sonce learned that the notebooks (nice fancy Toshiba systems) were going into hibernate every five minutes.
Our application, according to them, and ONLY on the wireless workstations, "gives an error message and just dies and we have to re-boot the system to get it going again". The error is that the polled table is no longer accessible and we surmise that the network connection has dropped. We also learned that they didn't know how to invoke/use "Task Manager", so that should help some.
We are planning to upgrade their system to use our SQL Server version once it is ready with all new version updates. But I'm not so confident that our problems will disappear because of the polled table. Seems to me a connection is a connection and if the network is dropped the connection goes with it.
Is there any secret to supporting a highly network-interactive VFP application on wireless workstations?
Thanks in advance.
