I deleted all the mere mortals dlls from the GAC and then copied Tom's program files\mm directory to my laptop. Copied all the dlls back to the GAC and thigns seem to be working. Thanks for your help.

After that, if you are using VS 2005 you can select Debug | Windowds |Modules from the shortcut menu (after running your application). This window allows you to view all loaded assemblies (including MM .NET). You can right-click each assembly and find additional information about why symbols were not loaded (which prevents debugging). It also allows you to manually try to load the pdb files.
