Hi everyone,

we have some problems with FPW26 and VFP 3.0 in a specific network, a problem that we repeat.
The problem occurs when 2 people open a DBF file as shared and start appending records simultaneously.
After having appended some 10 records each, one of the computers gets a General Program Failure and FoxPro on the other computer is in a "Attempting to lock" situation. If we cancel the attempt to lock, we get a message saying that the "File is in use by another".

We have tried to solve the sitation by putting the DBF file in a UNIX server, an NT server or on a client with a shared folder, but the same problem occurs.

We have also tried, as I said, with both FPW26 and VFP 3.0 and in the latter we have tried with different kind of lockings, using views updating the DBF files, etc. with the same result all the time.

A similar problem was experienced in this network using MS Access, but that problem was solved by installing the program Sambo on their UNIX server.

Does anyone have any suggestion why this occurs? Any help on what we can look at in FoxPro to find out what is happening would be greatly appreciated...
(using VFP 3.0 for Win & Mac)
