Hi Klas,

Do these computers have SMARTDRV or any other caching software running on them? If so remove it, or at the very least disable write caching. Just a stab in the dark but the only thought I have at this time. Good luck HTH.

>The problem occurs when 2 people open a DBF file as shared and start appending records simultaneously.
>After having appended some 10 records each, one of the computers gets a General Program Failure and FoxPro on the other computer is in a "Attempting to lock" situation. If we cancel the attempt to lock, we get a message saying that the "File is in use by another".

>We have also tried, as I said, with both FPW26 and VFP 3.0 and in the latter we have tried with different kind of lockings, using views updating the DBF files, etc. with the same result all the time.

>A similar problem was experienced in this network using MS Access, but that problem was solved by installing the program Sambo on their UNIX server.
