When Paul wrote this he was in a whole different environment and speaking to people of different culture then ours. Surely, God understands the differences between cultures.
There are many churches today that do allow women to teach - for the reason you mentioned. Our church just hold to a more strict interpretaion of scripture. Yes, God does understand the differences in culture, but I believe it's dangerous for us to make adjustments based on the culture. Things that would cause a grown man to blush years ago are commonplace today - so - should we adjust our beliefs and stop calling those things sin? I believe that's a dangerous path to follow...
