Maybe I don't understand the meanings of those word like you do...but...isn't one allowed to clarify, explain and clear-up misunderstanding about his opinions?
What would you call it if your opinion was mischaracterized and you wanted to fix it?
As far as stating my opinions as fact - I try not to do that. I will generally say, "I believe" before stating my beliefs - but - I'm sure I've failed to do that a time or two. To be condescending or annoying is not my intent..
