Anyways, it was buggy. DDE is not as "clean", but I do a lot of stuff with it: Block protect on variable numbers of paragraphs, table of contents, variable sized charts, all kinds of formatting, and some graphics. The only potential problem would occur if the user switched to the WP session and pressed some keys...but, this is a relatively small price to pay for the advantages that I found with DDE over OLE Automation with WordPerfect.

Hi Joe.

I am using WordPerfect to generate some very complex and lengthy reports. The only problem that I am having with the DDE is when the .dbf's that get imported into MailMerge .dat files become too big. I have a couple of delays that I set up in a config file for import and merge, but they are not long enough when the tables get very large. Any ideas on what I should do to make my program stop and wait until WordPrfect is done with the current command?
