If you stand back and look at all the religons equally. The statement is better said as "We create our God in our own image." We tend to place human qualities in God. In a since, making God more human then omnious. But if we didn't, we would be too overwelmed, we would not even be able to talk about God. We would have no grounds to relate to.

The laws and rules spoken in the Bible are not unique. Many of them are also spoken in other religious documents. Most are simple common-sense. For example: It is wrong to kill. It is wrong to steal. It is wrong to lie, etc.
