I'm not so sure about that.
I've had MS Word be the victim of an error saying something about '... some data was lost...' with write cache enabled. After getting it twice in 2 days in Word - no crashes in either case - I turned off write cahce and never got it again since.
Based on that experience my thought was (is) that turning it off has a good chance of letting it work.
