"Swiss" cheese, says "imported" - but not the country from which it's imported, and my money is not on Switzerland. Actually, my money is not on that cheese at all.
You are probably right, things are not as clear as the words on the label. For the most part I look at the label to see if by chance the item is made in USA. Otherwise, I have a short list of counties that I personally boycott.
