I think you're missing the point, John. Many of us are trying to answer the question we think the user is really asking rather than the one he posted. That comes from years of experience both with the product and with online discussions. And, to be honest, I've done it as a questioner, too--I try to do something, it doesn't work, so I start on a work-around, get stuck, and ask something about the work-around, when what I really should be asking is how to do the original thing.
