I have heard the term ‘a bit of a boot” from English and Irish in my family and friends. I take it to mean a light hearted joke, a slight kick in the seat of the pants, or just something of humor. What is the meaning that you know?

>I don't know about a US equivalent, but you've been in the army - do you regard a boot as a thing of beauty? :-)
