In the nineties, we had an ongoing soap, and in one scene the computer is stolen. And the camera pans to the desk where it was... and only the monitor is missing :).

OK, nobody expects these guys to know much about computers, but they could allowed at least one geek kid around as a stupidity check. OTOH, Star Trek publishes detailed technical specs of their imaginary hardware, they're really into it... and all that money doesn't prevent poor actors from getting into pyrotechnics?
