I have friends who fought in Korea and told me of the bravery of the Turkish soldiers. My friends thought that there were no finer soldiers. They fought as individuals and as teams. My friends (army) also said they felt safer when they were with Turkish soldiers, especially while on night patrol .

My dad was a Marine and was in the South Pacific during World War II. My dad and two of his buddies survived out of his company of 120 men. I remember those men, their names and their families and have not seen them since 1950.

All became alcoholics, divorced and were devastated by war. The battle of Okinawa was the last battle they participated in. If you study just this one battle you would understand what happens to men in battle.

I am a Vietnam vet. I cannot watch war movies about Vietnam. Ten years after I was honorably discharged I could sleep at night without dreams I will not describe. There is nothing beautiful about war except from those who are mentally ill.
