That's not an American accent that is a Southern accent! :o) Your comment reminds me of my bestfriend. She is from Chicakamauga, GA and we were stationed in Panama together. She read and spoke Spanish very well but could not get rid of that Georgia mountain accent no matter what. All of the locals loved to hear her speak Spanish or English - they didn't care which one as long as she spoke! :o)
