Ah, it's a difference in scale. Here I have 1 10 yds across the road from work, 2 within 10 mins walk from my home, 4+ within 20 mins walk, and so on. But we also have various and regular buses, often pharmacies within a supermarket, etc.

The last thing I would want to do when my daughter needed a prescription filled is to take her on a stroll to the pharmacy. To most Americans, the Pharmacy is at least 5 miles away if not more. The closest pharmacy to me is 7.5 miles away. I have many memories of taking my daughter to the pharmacy when she was little to pickup a prescipt when she was sick - a very big nuisance but a necessity. Single parents don't have anyone at home to watch the sick child while you go to the pharmacy for their medicine.
