If they are illegal, have kids here, then the kids should be illegal also.

>Well, if you travel to New Zealand and have a road crash, the taxpayer will pay for your care and nobody will think anything of it. Nobody will suggest we should block tourists from the USA ;-)

What are the odds that there are millions of people trying to get into New Zealand?

>The question for the US is "how do these people live in the US". For the most part they live by taking on poorly-paid and often illegal scutwork. Follow the reasons for "illegal employment" and you arrive at US consumer selfishness every time. Without community selfishness, there wouldn't be an illegal immigration problem.

Not questioning the quality of jobs, just their right to take them.

>FWIW I'm in LA for a day and the domestics in the hotel seem to be 100% Hispanic, presumably legally employed. At least one of them has high hopes for his kids, hoping they will be able to go to college if he works hard enough and gives them enough opportunities. IMHO he is (? would be) a fantastic citizen for this country, much more so than some "born in the USA" lazy slob who watches lots of football while his kids join gangs and run riot.

I don't disagree with you on this at all. My problem is with the illegal part of it.

>IMHO you'll see illegal immigration as long as there is plenty of illegal employment to be had and it offers people more opportunities than staying legally at home.

I'm on the bubble with this one. I definately understand why someone would want to come here, but I don't believe it's right to do so outside the system.
