I'd sooner think it is a problem with the TAPI device (modem?). A pause in a dial string is standard fair in many different scenarios - post switch LD dialers, for one. Glad you have a workaround.

>I found it! I was constructing the number2dial as 8,xxx-xxxx. The 8 of course to get an outside line and the comma for a slight pause. It seems the comma was the problem. It works fine (at least for now) with the form 8xxx-xxxx. It seems the comma was forcing it into internet mode. I can't expound on the reasons for this (it may be unique to our switch) but at least it works.
