From what I understand from a DBA I sit next to, it's because of the way the integrated Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer. The initial dialog is for connecting with Management Studio (Enterprise Manager) the 2nd dialog is for connecting with Query Analyzer (even thou it's integrated and should detect you're already connected).
>Yeah, like Tracy said ... you still get the dialog even with Windows Authentication. I haven't found an answer yet (but I've been kinda busy with some other stuff and haven't really gone searching too much yet).

>>>Hi gang,
>>>
>>>This has probably been asked and answered before, but I did a quick search here and didn't find anything.
>>>
>>>The big thing that I really hate about the new SQL 2005 Management Studio is this: I have a lot of .sql files saved to my hard drive ... such as scripts for StoredProcs, for generating test data, etc. In the old SQL 2000 Query Analyzer, I could open a New Query window, then choose the file to open from the File | Open menu, and it would open the file directly into the New Query window.
>>>
>>>But now, in Management Studio,
every time I try to open a file, a connection dialog comes up. This is most annoying. Is there a setting somewhere that I need to tweak?

>>>TIA,
