Audits will still apply. As soon as they know that you run offshore companies, no matter the setup good or wrong, they will audit on an annual basis on all types of things.

Again, I can't comment on the Canadian situation, but I've been audited once in the last ten years (average expectation is about once every seven years) and the Auditor wasn't focused on foreign revenue that has tax paid somewhere, preferably locally. These people are not stupid. They will be looking for services provided to Canadians but billed as export, or $$$$$$$$ exported in exchange for "service" of dubious value, or earnings salted away overseas to evade taxes.

As a Canadian citizen, I feel I should be able to operate a Canadian company without being enforced to charge my international customers a local tax.

Well, publicly establishing a foreign company is probably quite a good way to demonstrate the stupidity. You'd probably have a good shot at being elected to Government as well with a reputation as a no-nonsense candidate with business experience. ;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
"
