>>Why do you think they harp on a bomb exploding in the US? Cause they know fear drives people like you. If security was really a concern, the ports of the US would have been tightened up a looonnnnnngggg time ago.

>It might have something to do with the fact that airplanes flew into our buildings and bombs have exploded, yada yada yada. Terrorism is real. You pacifist think everyone is going to get along with each other, if we just leave them alone. It ain't gonna happen.

>I simply believe we should have torched Iraq a long time ago and we wouldn't be in this quagmire today. I voted for the more conservative candidates in this election, because there weren't many real conservatives. Needless to say, I didn't vote for any Democrats this time. That brings up an interesting point. The new freshmen Dems won't be flaming liberals, they'll be much more conservative than the current flock of Dems. The Dems will be a "house divided" and I think that may be a good thing.

>Personally, I'd love to see a little gridlock. Maybe the machine that grinds out so much bad law can come to a halt. I'd also like to see the Republican party take this as a wake up call. It's time to start on the next campaign. The future lies ahead!

I will resist the very strong urge to gloat <g>. Seriously, you're right that the Repubs need to take the election results as a wake up call. They have had the opportunity to run the country for the past six years, controlling the White House, both houses of Congress, and a majority of governorships and state legislatures as well. What came through loud and clear yesterday, both in the results and in exit polls, is the public doesn't think they've been doing a very good job of it. It truly is time for a change. We'll see whether the Democrats can do any better but it's doubtful they could do any worse.

The other major outcome of yesterday's elections is that President Bush is officially a lame duck, with more than two years to go in his term.
