May be the solution could be adding an additional property to the selected fields for the report, some thing like Do Not Print or For Query Only. This would indicate which fields should be included on the report and which should be in the data set. Another option may be to use a template. I tried creating a template with legal as the paper size and assigning this to the transaction log report. This doesn’t seem to work either; the report is using the paper size of the report not the template.

We're just finishing version 3.04, so as soon as it's out the door next week, I'll take a look at this.
