On my dad's first car (or so-called car, it was a pre-Yugo version of Fiat 600), after about 6000km, he had to replace all four within a month.

Nowadays, car tires are really good. Still, on the highways here, there are only two kinds of trash: roadkill and blown tires. Judging by the size of the fragments, I guess they're mostly coming from trucks, which usually have enough extra wheels to be able to sustain a tire explosion without crashing, so the truck owners seem to make sure the front pair is in top shape, and the rest can be worn to the end.
