Who knows? If the passenger then continued to make a fuss, he probably would have been ejected. If not, then likely the plane would simply have taken off.

On the other hand, when the Imams refused to take their proper seats, it's very unlikely that the situation would have been 'left as is'. If I switched seats and was asked to take my proper seat and refused. I'd be kicked off, why not them? Is being a muslim supposed to be protection from the consequences of acting badly?
