Here is tonight's trivia(l) fact: there are more people of Polish ancestry in and around Chicago than in any city in the world other than Warsaw. That's Warsaw, not Wausau <g>. It's a metro area of 8 million so just about every country in the world has made its mark here, but probably none more so than Poland. Well, I guess now that honor goes to Mexico, but let's not step in THAT briar patch again <g>.

>There were some Wausau Insurance commercials on tv for a few years which always consisted of someone asking if Wausau was in America or not. It would typically go like:
>
>What is it called?
>Wausau
>
>Where is it from?
>Wausau, Wisconsin
>
>Is that in the U.S.?
>
>They always made me giggle. I never forgot moving from Wisconsin to Colorado and being asked if I was from the U.S. or not :o) The same thing happened when I moved from Nederland, CO to Denver, CO. The locals always asked me how I liked living in the U.S. and told me I spoke English very well! :o)
>
>Then there was the tv commercial which consisted of an efficiency expert who is introduced and supposed to give a detail presentation on insurance. He walks up to the podium and states one word "Wausau." Then he walks off the stge.

>>We don't mind buying your quality clothes and eqpt but we draw the line at your insurance too!

>>I've often wondered whether Pepsi-Cola was so named as a pun on Pensicola (Spelling)

>>Which state is Xerox in, btw?
>>
>>>Just like Wausau, WI. Heard of Wausau Insurance? :o)

>>>>>Well of course! :o) http://www.oshkoshbgosh.com/aboutoshkosh/index.html
>>>>>Oshkosh is also home to one of the University of Wisconsin campuses. Of course, UW has 13 (I think) 4-year universities...

>>>>Well today's the 1st I've heard of the place. My kids were well outfitted with their dungarees - good schmutter (or as they say in the British Army - good kit - even if it's food)
>>>>
>>>>Similarly names like kalamazoo office eqpt and other strange sounding companies one later finds there's a US city of that name. :-)
>>>>
>>>>>
>>>>>>>I think a lot of people started building their own homes (in the old days) and never finished. So most municipalities consider it an unfinished dwelling. I found this for the city of Oshkosh:
>>>>>>>
>>>>>>>City of Oshkosh Municipal Codes

>>>>>>T. Is that where Osh Kosh B'Gosh kids' clothes come from?
