Thanks Sergey - I really do appreciate your feedback! To be honest though, I guess my nature is to be perseverant, almost to a fault. In time, I may very well end up using someone else's replacement combobox control - but as a newbie I'd rather learn the base controls and their quirks/features.
Maybe I misunderstood feedback in one of my previous threads about combos, as I thought upgrading to VFP 9 (from 6) would fix some of the less desirable "features" of comboboxes. Actually, upgrading to VFP 9 did fix the odd behavior of comboboxes I experienced in VFP 6 - where the combo's dropdown list would close as soon as any character was typed *if* the mouse pointer was within the dropdown list (regardless of whether combo was inside/outside a grid). That quirk seems to have been fixed in my limited testing. But the combobox still seems quirky when located within a grid. But being new to all this, maybe there is some property that I do not have set correctly...
I do have a training course that I purchased (Appdev - Jim Booth VFP 6). But he never has the time to explore all the "features" that I am running into :)
>You can either fight through all the VFP "features" and quirks on your own or use other people experience and knowledge. It's your choice. If you prefer later, check my previous message for 2 grate books that will make your life as VFP programmer much eitier.
