What is the alternative? Start another war in the sake of humanity. I think the US have tried that in iraq and in the more distant part in somalia and led to nothing.

The UN has to have an agreement with at least one of the parties involved, or else it just won't work. Even if it has, its effectiveness is limited and depended on the willingness of one or both parties to respect the UN forces.

I know that many americans think like Gi-joe actions would solve the problems of the world, but in many cases this makes things even worse (iraq).
