>>>When I come to your house, ring the bell and wait for you to open the door, will you simply not come to the door or will you come there anyway and tell me that I'm not welcome? Unless I'm stalking you, the second reaction is the proper behavior. Why, do you think?

>>Why should I open my door? It is mine to do with as I please. I will not explain why I do not let you or anyone else into my house. You could get shot trespassing! :)

>Okay, there may be a cultural element involved here. In Holland we very often do not communicate the visit in advance. And we do not have the right to shoot trespassers. :)

>The 'do not open your door to strangers' is here only the advice to children. But sure, common sense tells us all that there are certain situations where we better not open the door. But hey, a twit-filter is given to a known person, so the analogy is not for the case of strangers.

Now as an analogy of a Twit Filter being used at your front door, I would like to see a trap door in front of the entrance of my house. If someone knocks or rings the bell to gain my attention and I do not wish to open my front door for that person, I simply release the trap door and that person is in Twit Land, never to be seen again.
