>>- Rex straightened himself out last night - but I still have questions about the Bear defense. They appear much more vulnerable than earlier in the season. Not bashing them, just not sure they're any better than the Saints, Seahawks, etc. We'll find out come January.

>The saying "Blind hog finding an acorn..." comes to mind here regarding a good game for Rex.

Oi! <g>

People seem to have forgotten that Rex has had some very good games as well as some very bad ones. I believe he had the top QB rating in the league the first half. That's OK, let them underestimate him. At this point I am a lot more concerned about the banged-up defense than Rex. Tommie Harris and Mike Brown are both out for the year and Nathan Vasher and Todd Johnson are week to week.

>>- It's official - the Texans are now regretting passing up on Reggie Bush and Vince Carter. Two seasons ago, this franchise thought they were close to competing for the playoffs. Sunday's loss was a painful one.

>Kind of reminds me of who to draft in 1989(?) - Troy Aikman or Tony Mandarich. NEVER DRAFT A LINEMAN AHEAD OF A SKILL PLAYER IF THE TALENT LEVEL IS ANY WHERE CLOSE ESPECIALLY IF THE SKILL PLAYER IS A QB. Dallas, of course picked first that year and the rest is history. The Packers took Mandarich (oof!).

Yeah, that was notorious. The Packers weren't alone, though. The scouts graded Mandarich as possibly the best offensive lineman ever. What they missed was he was 'roided to the eyeballs and couldn't perform without them.

On a brighter note, I understand he is doing some good work with kids now. Good for him.

Do you hear Aikman as a TV analyst very often? For whatever reason he has been doing a lot of Bears games with Joe Buck and I think he is about as good as it gets. I have even forgiven him for having been a Cowboy (ducking). He's low key, never going out of his way to grab mike time, but when he says something it's almost always worth listening to. He will break down a play in detail, why it worked or why it didn't. Another thing I like is he never seems opinionated. Just the facts, ma'am....
