or, for example,
"He has been using VFP for 18 years ..."
I say this purely for your English enlightenment. It's a common mistake in french-english translation and works both ways. An anglophone might say "il a utilisé le VFP depuis 1988..."
or
"il a utilisé le VFP pour 18 ans" where "il utilise le VFP pendant 18 ans" is more correct. :-)
