You have just described the Bush administration during the leadup to the invasion of Iraq. Colin Powell, the one in the bunch who had actually experienced battle and was directly responsible for the lives of soldiers under his command, was the one saying let's go slow and let the U.N. investigation proceed. He was portrayed by his alleged colleagues in the administration as a girlie man who wouldn't do what needed to be done. Too soft, that Powell. And the chickenhawks won the day. Thank goodness for that, huh?

>Interesting comment Jos. I think you will find that when it comes to war, Generals are usually the last to recommend it or support it. It should always be the absolute last resort. Only used when no other options are available and even then sometimes not used at all unless necessary for national defense. Typically, it is the politicians who have never been to war or spent time in the military who push for it as a means to an end.

>>Hi Evan
>>
>>Since your post on this documentary I have watched out for this DVD in the stores. I saw it tonight and, coincidentally, just after finishing Chalmers Johnson's The Sorrows of Empire (he is interviewed in the movie). Well that is an incredibly sad tale and I think every gung-ho, pro-war, pro-military person needs to see that documentary, read the book, and be brave enough to think about what Eisenhower warned about. Thanks for posting about it.

>>>I highly recommend this DVD "Why We Fight". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Why_We_Fight_%282005_film%29
>>>
>>>Eisenhower warns of the "Miliary Industrial Complex" actually "Military Industry Congressional Complex". This is pretty radical for a republican we believed in building roads and funding healthcare, as it served the needs of defence.
