At the same time to make someone swear on document that could cause their soul to be damned. Oh and what is the point of making someone swear on a what they believe to be a invalid document... sort of defeats the purpose of the swearing.

To me it seems a bigger crime to have him swear on a bible than to simply break the tradition.
