Mike...thought it's hard for me to do so, it's best to just ignore Terry.

John....Aside from the famous pants event, I don't have one specific memory of Drew, just a series of memories where he threw so much showmanship into his presentations. He remains, IMO, the best software speaker I've ever seen.

He spoke at the speed of light [thus earning his last name], he packed a ton of meaningful examples, showed some cool capabilities in VFP....and he did it all in such a way that you could follow him. Every time I returned from a Fox DevCon, I always looked at his sample code first. Many pats on the back that I received from bosses around '95-'97 were due to tips I learned from Drew.

One year I attended a DevCon while buried with client deliverables, and was working on my laptop during most sessions - except for Drew's. His were the only ones where I gave full attention. I knew that for some sessions, just reviewing the source code samples afterwards would be enough. But Drew's sessions were so much more than just his samples [and his samples were great].

Drew was [one of] the initial inspirations for my series in CoDe magazine, and I regret that I never got the chance to tell him. But I think he knew that his work and efforts made our lives better.

Kevin
