Burgundy you mean Pinot Noir?

Yes, the so-called "great" red Burgundy is Pinot Noir.

It is confusing... I guess the slang habit of referring to French regionals is because French wines were the gold standard for so long until the New World producers began their run.

In my neighbourhood it is about 16 years of work to buy an average house. Vancouver housing prices are out of control.

I believe that the explanation for that is here: http://vancouvercondo.info/2006/08/house-prices-sydney-australia-vs.html

;-)
"... They ne'er cared for us
yet: suffer us to famish, and their store-houses
crammed with grain; make edicts for usury, to
support usurers; repeal daily any wholesome act
established against the rich, and provide more
piercing statutes daily, to chain up and restrain
the poor. If the wars eat us not up, they will; and
there's all the love they bear us.
