I would like to set a property in a form to on and off depending on wheather the update has been performed. This property would need to stay set after the form & application are closed and re-opened ( thus I don't have to perform checks for update again ).

Sorry. I didn't make myself clear. I have created the property and can load it at runtime but when the program restarts the original value returns. I wish to be able to make "permanent" changes to the property which persist past restarts until they are changed by another runtime action.
It is impossible to make programs idiot proof. Idiots are too cleaver.
