Dan --

Didn't really intend to kill the thread...but we sure stomped the heck out of it, didn't we?

You are rignt...Fox is a great tool and always has been (IMHO). The Microsofties really ought to get with it and realize that VFP is the best data-centric tool they or anyone else have. It has a super built-in database engine, and it is just about the best front end there is for SQL Server, bar none.

The 'softies WISH that VB was as good as VFP in this particular arena, but it just isn't...VFP is data-centric, VB is not. I do not mean to slam VB here, because it is a great tool, too. I just think that VFP and VB each have their place.

There -- I've said my piece. I may be "preaching to the choir" in this forum,
but I can hope (?) that somebody from MS is paying attention.

Bill

PS -- Wake up Microsoft! See VFP for what it really is...a Powerbuilder killer!

>You know what it is. It's been a while since I've beat the dead horse and I really miss the smell. But you guys missed it. Or more likely I am not communication what I want to communicate. I believe that: 1. VFP is in trouble.
>2. VFP is a great product, and I want to see it continue. 3. I also believe that M$ wants to phase us out or perhaps shift our direction.
>
>But if M$ wanted to really wanted to get rid of us. We would have been gone long ago. What are we doing right that? Can we pinpoint that and do more of whatever we're doing? I don't think putting our heads in the sand and saying oh well is right. I want to concentrate on what we can do. No matter how painful it is beat that dead horse, if we really believe in VFP, lets make the effort. Lets look for a viable solution.
>
>I believe that we more pull than we think. Regardless of what M$ wants we're still here and its just a matter of pushing the right buttons to get VFP the recoginition it deserves.
>
>Hey, I liked the way you guys killed the thread with talk about the weather. Very clever :).
