>>Are you sure that Scandinavian countries are qualified to be called 'Socialism'? Do they have private enterprise? 'Failure of soicalism' means 'problems' created by public (i.e. state) ownership of land, factories, etc. Last time I checked, Sweden and other countries have established private property rights.

>I don't know. I am certainly not an expert as I have never lived under socialism or a socialist-capitalist hybrid as in Scandinavia and others. I was just wondering as his statement seem to equate socialism with failure. I do come from a country were public education is a given, it's free and in general of very good quality, yet not a socialist country.
Public education in this country is a failure. This proves socialism does not work! :)
Add social security, medicare, etc. All failures. Why pay people who are disabled or injured on the job? They do not provide any profit for their employer. If you want to be a good American, you have to pay your way.
Seems like socialism worked for the Inca Empire, until the Spaniards came to visit.
Socialism will not work in this country as there is a concept that socialism and communism are the same and are going to destroy democracy, freedom, and the American way of life. (I got mine to heck with you!)
Too many people are brainwashed and not willing to consider changes to an otherwise "perfect system".
